Edgios.com is new kind of distributed search engine, or peer-to-peer search engine, which will be soon introduced to millions of Web users.
P2P Search, Distributed Search, Community Search = User Base!
Distributed search engine concept is not new, I read some posts about this approach to Web search four years ago, and my opinion about it that it is very interesting concept regarding breaking the monopoles in search engines industry by using p2p technology as the search platform, instead of proprietary web crawlers, thousands of SE’s servers, etc. But, I did not read about some successful p2p SE’s in any mainstream media, nor blogs. Will Edgios.com be the breaker of that? Maybe!

BELGRADE, February 28, 2008 — Serbian National Register of Internet Domain Names (RNIDS) informs Serbian and international public that registration of the new Internet domain names of the Republic of Serbia with .rs extension, will commence on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 12h noon.RNIDS will accept requests for registration of new .yu domain names until Friday, February 29, 2008 at 12h noon. After this date registration of new .yu domain names will no longer be possible. All .yu domain names registered until this date will continue to function normally at least until September 30, 2009.
Registration of new .rs domains will be conducted through 27 Serbian companies, which were accredited by RNIDS as the accredited registrars of .rs domain names.
List of the accredited registrars of .rs domain names, as well as detailed rules and procedures regarding .rs registration and transition from .yu to .rs, are available at Web site www.rnids.rs.
Some interesting domains with .rs TLD
I think that there will be some “easy money” making with some of the domains with .rs extension, specially Web 2.0 names, such as:
You.rs, Blogge.rs, Love.rs, Move.rs…
For the people in Serbia it will be interesting to by .in.rs domains like love.in.rs (love in Republic of Serbia), meet.in.rs, sex.in.rs, etc.

.RS domain Starts at March

Today I finished with adding new features to this blog. The most important feature is the possibility that you can add comments on the posts, without registering to the blog. I choose Cryptographp plugin, and I am satisfied with it, for now.
Several weeks ago I add PostRatings plugin, you may noticed it at the end of the posts. It is interesting Ajax functionality.
I replaced WP-Notable plugin for the submission to social network services, with ShareThis plugin. It uses less space, it has good Ajax functionality, and adds email posting.
I also added Related Post plugin, which has the similar functionality as previous Terms2Tags plugin. In addition, I enabled recent posts to be seen on all blog pages.
I hope that mentioned changes will results with better blog experience.

I am really pissed of because of enormous number of referrer SPAM I receive at this blog (that is the reason for the comment subscription). That’s the situation for a months, but until recently those were only standard Viagra/amphetamine combinations, very nicely visible in the stats referrer table (with # sign).
Several days ago I received referrer from some pingdom.com (I will not give them a link) with the form of the URL pingdom.com/monitor/www.draganvaragic.com. Of course, this is only a SPAM for their services.
I really hate this, and I hope that this post will be a part of the campaign for people NOT TO SIGN to do business with them.

Recently I found very useful service Page2RSS, which enables RSS subscriptions to the pages without RSS feature.
The service is very simple - there is only need to paste the Web page URL, and on the next service’s page there is the RSS url which is traceable with RSS readers.
The result on the reader shows is there any changes. Sometimes this does not work very well because sites use flash or use visitor’s counters, current time etc.
